Going crazy in Pre-Searing
I decided to try something fun, and get to the highest level I possibly can in Pre-searing. I've only done 3 quests so far (Message for a Friend, War Preperations and Necromancer Trainer). I'm currently level 6, 1/4 of the way to level 7, and I'm looking for ways to make this easier .
First off, is there any area with a nice concentration of level 3+ monsters besides the Northlands? I'm currently running around Wizard's Folly, but those enemies are somewhat few and far between, relatively speaking.
Also, if I were to try and take out Charr in the Northlands, what do you think would be the best secondary for a Necro to do it?
Finally, does anyone know about how much exp all the quests in Pre-Searing total to? I could find out myself, but it's easier to just ask first .

well i did every quest available in pre-searing and reached level 7, if that helps. and if you want to farm xp then i would go threw the northern gate and kill the charr in a group of 4 people. we were getting about 100x per kill there when i was last there level 7. other than that i cant say were would be a great farming spot for xp pre-searing

Well, in theory, you should be able to get to (( whatever the highest creatures level that exists Pre-Academy)) + 6 (when they stop giving you experience).
If you are REALLY trying.
It's possible you could wait for the quests until after that, and it MIGHT be enough experience to give you another level, but probably not.
What's the highest level of any monster? Something like 8-10, right? So maybe you could get to level 16.
They should put a single level 14 creature in the Northlands, so you could have a level 20 character (but no more XP after that

Heh, while level 16 sounds fun, I don't think I'll go that crazy. 12 is probably the highest without spending days to get 1/4 of my exp bar.
And briefly skimming the quests, there should be enough to give me one level once I reach 10-12. Maybe 2, who knows.
Now, I wonder how much I'll be able to slaughter the other Academy team once I'm finished .

There's 35 quests? Hmm, average them out at 250 each...- the 3 I've done already...
8000 exp. Yeah, that'll get me a level.
EDIT: I've found the highest concentration of level 5 monsters that isn't in the Northlands. And it consists of 2 Melandru's Stalkers. Whoopee .

Don't forget to do all the quests to test secondarys before using choosing your last one.

It seemed like there were a lot of Skale Broodcallers (lvl 3) down by the waterfall in Regent Valley, near where Aidan sends you to get the ranger skills. Other than that, I'd try the catacombs. Think gargoyles were lvl 3

Oh and there's also a drake or something out in the lake just east of the Ascalon gates that was lvl 3 or 4

I intend to try the same thing. I'm going to make a character that will never leave pre-searing (that way if I miss the place, I won't have to delete a character.)
My advice would be to level as far as you can with mobs, don't do any quests at all (none, zero). Once you're a high enough level that even the strongest boss you can find gives you no exp, then do the quests for the remaining exp.
That being said, what is the highest level badguy you can find in pre-searing?

over the wall is level 7 and 8, best XP farming there. you can only get there in a group with other players becasue you need someone to pull the lever whil you walk through. its on a timer and you cant pull it and then run down to go through the gate.

Well, if I were you, I'd stick to soloing in wizards folly, there's a few routes you can take in the area west of the main road, and it loops back to Green Hills, where you exit/enter and your monsters are all back again. I'd keep doing that until you were level 9(I think this is the level they stop giving exp there, not sure). Then, get a friend of high level and farm the Northlands until you no longer get exp there per kill either, then finish all your quests and be teh most l33tz0rs in pre searing. Good luck with that by the way...

In the change notice today, they mentioned they fixed it so Pre Searing doesn't break if you are higher than level 15.
Funny. =)

When I do it, I'm not looking at it as wasting time at all. Tehre are two approaches.
1-I accidentally skipped pre-searing on my first char. (didn't take the "you're not coming back" warning seriously)
2-I want to be able to go back and visit pre-searing later. At the moment, I dont feel like it's important to have 4 level 20 ascended super-heroes...
